The people of God have, since the beginning of the scriptures, been called His flock. In this study, we look at God our shepherd, the bad shepherds who afflicted and mistreated His flock, and the prophesies of a better shepherd to come. (A companion sermon to "Our Shepherd" which follows this one.)
Jesus said that "the scriptures bear witness of me." He then gave the apostles the understanding of the prophecies. In this study, we see how the apostles explained those prophecies to convince and teach about Jesus.
Jesus told the Jews that "the scriptures bear witness of me" and after his death He "opened the mind" of the disciples "to understand the scriptures." In the sermon, we examine these things and see how the Old Testament was deliberately incomplete and the New Testament brings it to completeness.

The church that is built on Christ was not accidental, incidental or put in place in lieu of somethings else. It was the very plan of God from the beginning, as the prophets clearly foretold.
