Rahab: Salvation At The Harlot's House

Rehab the Harlot was a resident of Jericho, the first city that the people of Israel would encounter when they crossed into the Promised Land. We see that her fear of what was coming led to her expressing faith in Jehovah and helping His people. This led to the salvation of her and her household when her city fell.

We look that the heart of the Old Testament law to learn about God's concern that His people exercise justice and mercy in dealing with other people, especially those who are likely to be exploited.  We also see the stern justice that was to be dealt out to those who were threats to the existence of the people and their fidelity to God.

God warned His priests, "I will be treated as holy" (Leviticus 10:3) after He rejected the strange fire of Nadab and Abihu. We examine how the the holiness of God was to be respected above all else in that setting, and what lessons were can learn and apply to today regarding the holiness of God.

Current Use Of The Law Of Moses

We consider the ways that the Law of Moses, although not our standard, authority or way of salvation, is still useful for us today. It can still lead us to Christ and give us confidence in our belief in Him. It is also the background of the New Testament, which often illuminates New Testament truths, even though its specifics are not bound today.

The One Who Did Not Sin Knew That Abiding In The Father's Love Meant Keeping The Commandments

One of the great things that kept Jesus from sinning, and will keep us from sin as well, was keeping the Father's commandments.  This was motivated by the loved that He had for the Father, and our love for Him should keep our dedication to His commandments strong as well.

God has continually loved His creation, and love for us guided everything in the life of Christ of Christ, so much so that loved us fully to the end. The love that was demonstrated to us is to be reciprocated as we are to be guided by love of God and love of others.

Mankind longs for peace, tranquility, contentment and real fulfillment, but these qualities are so rarely found, and when they are found, they aren't found in the things that people so often strive to get. If fact, we often seek after things that work directly against these longings. In this study, we find the true peace that comes from God and things that go with it.
